“Celebrating Body Diversity doesn’t mean we are promoting obesity, but rather respecting and valuing all body shapes. Contrary to popular belief, stereotypes about obesity cause severe emotional and psychological harm, which serve as the foundation for the development of eating disorders, two of which, ironically, lead to obesity.
Information about nutrition on social media is not yet regulated. Nowadays, anyone can give nutrition recommendations, leading to confusion and misinformation. Unfortunately, this has normalized harmful eating behaviors that are actually symptoms of eating disorders. Nowadays, many people, especially teenagers, live with eating disorders without realizing it.
Celebrating body diversity, promoting social inclusion for everyone, regardless of their body type or shape, ending stereotypes, encouraging authenticity, informing, raising awareness, and educating about eating behavior, nutrition, and sports, are the solution both for treating and preventing eating disorders and obesity.
